Jeff was my favorite racer, besides being one of the best ever, he had the class and respect of Mark Martin, etc., plus his last name and my last name our clans were allies in old Scotland, but I was not happy when he quit before he had a 100 wins. But you do what you have to do. But his legacy will continue on as he recognizes other great talent and brings them up.

Dehydration cannot be ignored. This happened to me in Thailand-I was an advisor to the Thai Royal Special Warfare Center and we were out on an ambush deep in the jungle and we had been moving through the triple canopy for about 3 hours and I realized I was not sweating and I felt weirdly calm but sick to my stomach. That’s when it hit me-all of a sudden-my vision went black.I was awake-totally,but I couldn’t see anything.I called the medic who immediately knew what to do-he took a canteen and poured the whole thing slowly down the back of my neck which made me feel better, then he cracked an electrolyte packet into a full canteen and gave me that-I downed the whole thing without stopping-I would never have been able to drink that much but once I started I didn’t want to stop. Then he hit me with an IV and my body no lie took two full bags of fluid in 10 minutes.I needed an hour to be up again, but I was able to hump it out of there before the cramps started.

In 1975 I was 14 and lucky enough to be at the World Series in Boston. Watching Carlton Fisk, Carl Yazstrzemski, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, and Joe Morgan. What a magical series that was. I was at the WS with my grandfather. He would never see the Red Sox win one. I’ve already seen them win four. We’re not here very long. Make the choice to do right by people. There is a blessing in that.

I remember watching the 1980 ALCS game as a 12 year old kid . When Brett hit the home run off Gossage I wanted to start playing baseball . The unbelievable moment in a situation with the Royals being down late in the game and seeing that home run go into the upper deck made such an impression on me about the underdog . Brett was the greatest clutch player I ever saw and he did it over and over . Not many can claim they had three home runs in one game ..... absolutely no one can claim they had three batting titles in three different decades except George Brett . What a gamer !
